Purpose: To explain the position of Cost Accountant at Lohmann.

Reports To: Plant Manager

Direct Reports: N/A

Position Type and Expected Hours:

· Exempt Position

· Full Time Position

· 1st Shift: typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday 7:30AM to 4:30PM with an hour lunch break

· At times your hours and shift may become staggered, overlapping and/or extending beyond your normal schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cost Specialist Activities
  • Prepare/issue accurate production-related purchase orders on a daily basis.
  • Analyze pricing on all purchase orders.
  • Process manufacturing job costs (MRP) on a daily basis. Analyze costs and variances to aid in maximizing profit margin and accuracy of reported numbers.
  • Support month end close process (very quick close expectations).
  • Partner with key internal customers (I.e. operations, controlling) to ensure accurate and meaningful reporting and analysis.
  • Assists in the analysis of the standard cost system, including recommended changes to routings and bills of material (BOM).
  • Work with operation/engineering/controlling managers to ensure accurate Bills of Material (BOM) and Routings are created and maintained.
  • Work with operation/engineering departments to establish and track metrics for material cost savings and the implementation of those cost savings.
  • Work with operation/engineering departments to identify cost savings and efficiency improvements.

o Identification of inventory variances and creation of abatement measures related to MRP

o Problem solve and investigate discrepancies that occur on paperwork in tandem with the Inventory Coordinator

o Create inventory waste batches related to MRP system results

o Work with controlling group regarding invoicing, inventory and purchases

o Scan final shipping packets and place in electronic customer folders on dedicated drive and file paper copies

o Other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary by company management

· Purchasing Agent Activities

o Work in tandem with Plant Manager to place production related purchase orders (materials, packaging, tooling, etc.)

o Confirm pricing and delivery dates with suppliers; monitor daily

o Maintenance of the PRP (purchasing receiving plan) report for the company on a daily basis; regarding shipment quantities and dates, coordinate with Inventory Control to remove completed purchase orders

o Work proactively with Plant Manager to ensure continuous communication of open purchases, quantities, and delivery expectations.

o Create PO’s for CSM (Customer Supplied Material) to allow for receipt into inventory system; maintain CSM PO log

o Other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary by company management

Minimum Requirements:

· Ability to speak, read and write English.

· Ability to recognize, add and subtract numbers, multiply, divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurements, volume.

· Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Strong proficiency in excel and hands-on experience using an integrated ERP System.

· Understanding of multi-level bills of material creation and structure

· Frequently required to walk. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

· Good writing and communication skills for internal and external correspondence

· Ability to successfully multi-task with focused attention to detail

· Professional and courteous communication with coworkers and direct reports

· Good problem-solving skills

· Good organization skills and maintain a neat and orderly work environment

· Follow and recommend improvements to procedures as defined in the Lohmann QMS system

· Must be flexible to work adjusted schedule as required

· Demonstrated support of company goals, values, and mission statement.

Required Education, Experience, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, etc.:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field

· Previously related experience and/or training of minimum 2 years

· At least 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

Travel: No travel is expected for this position.

Pay: $58,681.00 - $63,995.00 per year
