Summary :
At all levels, the Manufacturing Engineer position provides focused technical support to manufacturing areas for both standard product production and in support of new product development for Loll Designs business segment. Responsibilities include equipment procurement and training, tooling design, production facility layout management, production capacity analysis, process improvement project identification and execution, warranty investigation, time studies, and standard work and lean production system tool development and maintenance. Engineers are key collaborators on product engineering testing, test report documentation, and new product development tooling design.
Within the Manufacturing Engineering role, engineers are acutely focused on equipment and tooling technical support; this includes CNC program development to support both standard and new products, and CNC program database management.
All engineers are responsible for executing these responsibilities within their assigned specialized area, making good, informed decisions that focus on safety, cost, quality and delivery
Duties and responsibilities :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and / or abilities required.
1. Operate within facility safety guidelines.
2. Support manufacturing objectives : develop, implement and maintain area / product-specific work instructions, time studies, PFMEAs, preventative maintenance, and other related standard work and lean production tools
3. Create and execute continuous improvement projects to improve production processes, equipment and tooling
4. Conduct area capacity analysis and ensure all implemented processes and equipment support optimal cost, quality and safety.
5. Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing team members, designers, suppliers, tool builders, and associates to support new product launches through the PDL system, and to support Applications requests
6. Prepare cost justification, quotes and proposals for new products, new equipment, and capital projects
7. Additional responsibilities within the ME role :

Criteria for Success :
Must have a history of achievement with an emphasis on customer service and problem-solving. Strong candidates must have a track record of success in developing manufacturing tooling and designing lean manufacturing processes. Must have the desire to continuously improve and be willing to accept responsibility for decision-making. Must work well in a team environment, building a network of relationships with a positive attitude.
Education, Experience and Skills :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent skill level, training or experience in related field. Must demonstrate knowledge in the use of lean manufacturing and project management tools. Engineers must possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints. Must be knowledgeable in the use of common quality system tools such as PFMEA, Gage R&R, capability studies, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, standard deviation and the use of a CMM. Must possess an understanding of basic manufacturing equipment including lathes, mills, routers, plasma, laser, rollers, welders, and presses. Must be proficient in SolidWorks CAD and Microsoft Office software. Experience in metal fabrication, cellular manufacturing, and a base knowledge of the properties of materials used in site furniture such as steel, concrete, aluminum, wood, and plastics is required. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in common units of measure and have a working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and evaluation.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment :
Mostly office, but may be required to work in noisy or hot environment and around moving machinery. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for up to 10 hours.
