Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has been helping animals and people since 1873. Together with our community, we better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care. Our organization cares for thousands of animals each year—saving animals from abuse and suffering, sending homeless pets to new homes, connecting pet owners with resources to keep their pets, and sharing information on how to help animals every day.
The focus of the Leadership Donor Relations position is to develop and manage a portfolio of major gift level giving donors by initiating, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with individuals and families who partner financially with Lollypop Farm. This position’s primary objective is to develop long-term relationships built on a firm understanding of donors’ interests, passions, and values.
Essential Job Duties
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Four or more years of successful experience in fundraising or related positions such as marketing or communications strongly preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position.
Skills: Excellent communication skills preferred. Experience in building long-term relationships and the ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Proficient in using the most recent versions of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management (Raisers Edge preferred). Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with a professional demeanor, self-reliance, and resourcefulness. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands while achieving work goals.
Physical Demands: Performs work primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift and move throughout the building. Performance may also require prolonged periods of repetitive motion. Frequently required to communicate with others. Occasionally required to move excessive weight.

Essential Job Duties
- Develop, implement, and help manage Lollypop Farm’s major gift program, with a caseload of about 150 donors. Establish short-term and long-term cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for multiple tiers
- Sets annual goals and budgets together with the Director of Development
- In collaboration with the Development Database Consultant, generates program reports for activity and results in goals and objectives
- Develops and contributes to major gift and mid-level program communications in coordination with the Lollypop Farm communications team
- Qualify donors from the mid-level caseload to move to major gift level. Collaborate with the development team to facilitate a smooth transition to major gifts for qualified donors
- Maintains accurate and thorough records, contact reports, and background data to preserve institutional memory and facilitate programmatic performance evaluation
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state/ federal laws
- Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others
- Perform other duties as requested to meet team and organizational needs
