Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Division of Gastroenterology, is seeking a full-time Gastroenterology Section Chief to join our practice team at Riverside University Health System. Applicants with experience in General GI or Interventional Gastroenterology are welcome to apply.
The GI Section Chief will be responsible for the leadership, management and administration of the GI Division at RUHS across the domains of Endoscopy services, outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, teaching, and research. The Chief will work collaboratively with the Head of GI at Loma Linda University Health to accomplish the goals and mission of the University.
A balance of clinical duties would include inpatient coverage with outpatient endoscopy and clinic. No commute is needed as clinic, endoscopy, and offices are all located on site. Weekly protected time during outpatient weeks is set aside for career and leadership development. Active involvement in teaching fellows, residents and students is expected. The Division of Gastroenterology at RUHS includes 3 physicians and 4 advanced practice providers (one of whom will assist in the inpatient week), with a wide community-based focus in general GI, pancreatic biliary, third space endoscopy, hepatology, IBD and motility.
The environment is extremely collegial, productive, and yet mission focused on patient care and education. The site has GI Genius, Capsule Endoscopy, Manometry including Endo Flip, Smart Pill and BRAVO capabilities including a fleet of Olympus 190s including EUS and ERCP scopes.
Established capabilities for Interventional Gastroenterology include POEM, Endoscopic suturing, ESD, Spyglass, Hybrid APC among others. Onsite research assistance is available clinical and population-based research including RCTs. Dedicated anesthesia coverage available.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for caring for the underserved and will spend most of his / her time at the RUHS location. For the right candidate with administrative skills, there is potential for a leadership position in academics or GI endoscopy operations. The hospital executive support is extremely strong, and our clinical partners are extremely collaborative. The system is highly motived to support the needs of productive physicians.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation listed is for a base compensation : $400,000 - $460,000. This amount does not include compensation for inpatient call weekdays / weekends, e-consults, and specialized clinics. Productivity bonuses beyond the base WRVU target are paid out bi-annually. Data is available for procedure volumes. Additional compensation will also be allocated for candidates who have a potential for leadership position as stated above. More information on compensation is discussed with the department during the recruitment process and a package tailored to the interests of the candidate can be developed based on the interest of the candidate.
