Job Description
Job Summary: The Bioinformatician will join an interdisciplinary research team focused on advancing technological and methodological strategies aimed at enhancing the diagnosis, treatment, and early detection of maternal complications and infant diseases. Analyze and interpret extensive sequencing datasets to utilize and innovate bioinformatics and statistical methods across various data types, such as whole genome/exome sequencing, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, single-cell analysis, and circulating microRNA data. Collaboration with other center investigators and neonatology division clinicians will be integral to testing, validating, and refining hypotheses. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related field required. Minimum five years of experience in bioinformatics and/or biostatistics, including analysis of high-throughput sequencing data required.
Knowledge and Skills: Extensive expertise in bioinformatics and biostatistics, specializing in computational genomics. Proficiency in high performance computing and fluency in multiple programming languages such as Perl, Python, Java, R, and C. Strong writing and analytical abilities, coupled with a strong capacity to prioritize work efficiency. Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as Institutional Review Board (IRB) and HIPAA. Knowledge of regulatory and data privacy issues. Familiar with machine learning, information theory and signal processing. Familiar with basic molecular biology, evolutionary biology and phylogenetic techniques. Familiar with high-performance computing and database management.
