Shared Services: Risk Management- (Full-Time, Day Shift) -

Job Summary: The Workplace Violence Specialist is responsible for fulfilling all elements of compliance prescribed by Senate Bill 1299 -- an Act to the California Labor Code section 3342 of Title 8 relating to occupational safety and health. Building the LLUH program will include adopting multiple standards and applying them at all General Acute Care Hospitals and Psychiatric Hospital to protect health care workers, patients, visitors, and other stakeholder from aggressive and violent behavior and will include policy, plans, training, screening, reporting, response, investigation, and continuous review/mitigation. In addition to compliance, the specialist will build supporting programs and capabilities which represent best practices for early identification, intervention, and implementation of response protocols to reduce site-to-site variation; and ultimately reduce workplace violence incidents, injuries, and lost days. A best practices program will ultimately enhance employee perceptions of safety, contribute to the patient experience, and foster the safest environment possible for the delivery of world-class healthcare at LLUH. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in nursing, human resources, business or a Master's Degree in social work required. Minimum three years of healthcare or employee relations experience required. Minimum three years of experience in safety management, including experience with California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal-OSHA) regulations or related field preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and Windows-based software programs necessary to the position. Able to work with hand tools, work in various personal protective equipment, including chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection. Able to communicate in English with excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills. Able to give presentations; work as a team player to achieve LLUH and departmental goals; relate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; lead others to cooperate and follow a specific course of action; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; accept direction; maintain confidentiality of information. Able to demonstrate sound and mature judgment and analytical skills; compose and edit written documents and communications; read and write efficiently; think critically; perform basic math functions; initiate and manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; problem solve; recall information and pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision and meet expected deadlines. Able to recognize and report safety hazards. Able to smell chemicals or odors in environment, especially when detecting a breakthrough in a respirator. Visual acuity to correctly read equipment dials or indicators, read computer screens, correctly monitor gauges and instruments. Able to identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace and potential hazards. Discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) or Active California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required. Valid Driver`s license required at time of hire.
