What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restoration Forestry Workers/Wildland Firefighters position at Lomakatsi Restoration Project?

Wildland Firefighter
During wildland fire season, Lomakatsi currently staffs a 20-person Wildland Suppression Hand
Crew (Type 2) as well as a Wildland Engine (Type 6).
Qualifications
- Previous Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) wildland fire experience is preferred
- Refresher training can be provided to individuals who do not have current certifications
- Lomakatsi gives preference to employees who want to work annually in project work
Restoration Forestry Worker – Sawyer: Forestry and Fuels
Outside of wildland fire season, Lomakatsi crew members conduct forest restoration work
including thinning, as well as hand piling, pile burning, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience operating a chainsaw for non-commercial fuels reduction
- Knowledge and experience with piling/burning of slash associated with fuels reduction
- Understanding of basic forestry concepts and local tree/shrub species
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred but not required
