Salary Range: $47.33 - $65.23

Position Summary:
- This position reports to the Director of Surgical Services.
- Plans, coordinates and implements patient care for primarily Endoscopy Lab patients.
- Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
- Remains flexible to changing systems.
- Supports other nursing areas within the Surgery department by floating when needed after appropriate orientation.
- Treats patients, families, visitors, peers and physicians with consideration and respect.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of patients in the Endoscopy Lab area after appropriate orientation to each area, preoperative and discharge.
- Assists Endoscopy team with scheduled and emergent endoscopy procedures.
- Assists in procedure with patient assessment, screening, monitoring, medication administration, positioning, patient transportation, discharge, and education.
- Demonstrates proper handling of pathology specimens per hospital policy.
- Participates in handling all procedures and equipment that pertains to the Endoscopy Lab, per department policy.
- Endoscopy schedules vary related to the number of cases, GI RN recognizes some days may be call off days, with some days being longer.
- Willing to be trained to assist with technical aspects of procedures (handling biopsy forceps, snares, scope handling, and physician assistance).
- Demonstrates the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Is able to interpret data about the patient’s status to identify each patient’s age specific needs and to provide the care and supplies needed appropriate to the patient’s age group.
- Demonstrates the ability to function as a team member within the unit and the department.
- Demonstrates the ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
- Accepts appropriate supervision.
Essential Functions:
- The ability to perform all aspects of Endoscopy RN’s job duties in Surgical Services Department, which includes standing or walking for prolonged periods of time, bending, gripping, grasping, stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
- The ability to keyboard and use Word Processing programs.
- Maintains nursing license following the Scope of Practice for Registered Nursing and any certifications required for Surgical Services Department.
- Demonstrates the ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
- Accepts appropriate supervision.
Position Qualifications:
- Education: Current California license as an RN.
- Experience: Previous experience with the care of patients in all areas with demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS PALS required.
- Skills/Ability: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills preferred. Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy. Exercises good judgment, demonstrates initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise.
