Salary Range: $31.01 - $42.75

Position Summary:
- This position reports to the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
- The Physical Therapist Assistant plans, coordinates and implements patient care and progress patient care plans in the assigned area (inpatient, outpatient, or CCC departments).
- Performs patient-related responsibilities delegated by and under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the department and district; is adaptable to a dynamic healthcare district and department; demonstrates quality and efficiency in work habits and respect.
- Demonstrates understanding of cultural diversity and growth and development over the life span; able to identify each patient’s cultural and age-specific needs and to adapt interaction and treatment to meet those needs.
- Must work well under stress or tight deadlines.
- Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors.

Position Duties/Responsibility:
- Performs treatment of patients
- Maintains current documentation of patients progress/complaints
- Communicates with Physical Therapist on a regular basis regarding patient care, status, and progress
- Responsible for set up of treatment area and clean up following treatment
- Able to interpret data from all areas of patient chart when determining patient needs
- Communicates with patient and family regarding therapy goals and needs prior to discharge
- Seeks continuing education appropriate to maintain up to date skill levels
- Follows specific directives and instructions regarding patient care given by the supervising therapist
- Assists therapist in educating other departments in body mechanics, CPM, and traction set up
- Able to utilize the computerized charting system.

Essential Functions:
- Must have the ability to maintain PT Assistant license and CPR certification.
- Must have the ability to key board and use various computer programs.
- Must have the ability to transfer patients.
- Must have the ability to do fine motor skill activities.
- Must have the ability to lift, bend, reach, squat, kneel, push and pull to participate in all aspect of the PT assistant’s job duties.

Position Qualifications:
- Education: PT Assistant with current valid California license, Acceptance of application for State of California PTA Licensing Examination and current valid CPR certification.
- Experience: New graduate may be considered.
- Cert/License: Valid PT Assistant California license and CPR Certification required from the American Heart Association.
- Skills/Ability: Knowledge of physical therapy treatment to patients of all ages. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy; exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative and emotional stability, tact and poise.
