Lone Star Bakery, Inc. is family-owned and located in the San Antonio Metro area. We are looking for a Sr. Food Scientist to lead product development initiatives in support of the organizations growth strategy.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads new product development from concept to commercialization.
- Conducts both benchtop and production trials of new formulas and processes.
- Presents innovative products to customers on an ongoing basis.
- Provides production startup support and ongoing troubleshooting during the product lifecycle.
- Works with suppliers as in developing new products, testing new ingredients and troubleshooting.
- Collaborates with internal departments.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Stays current on trends and future product requirements to address new opportunities.
- Actively pursues professional development opportunities.
Job Requirements, Education, & Certifications
- Bachelors degree in Bakery Science, Food Science, Food Engineering or related technical field.
- Minimum of five years work experience in food product development including idea generation, formulation, ingredient functionality, process design, plant testing and commercialization.
- Previous experience with bakery products strongly desired.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Effective project management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and be flexible to rapidly changing business needs.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Ability to give presentations.
