The Personal Banker is responsible for providing teller-based transactions, opening new accounts, handling maintenance and service requests aimed at consumer and business products/services, for new and existing customers, while delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Personal Banker acts as the customers’ first point of contact with the bank; by serving the customers’ total financial service needs by recognizing and uncovering opportunities and contributing directly to the success of the branch. The Personal Banker is responsible for a broad range of basic to moderate activities in the branch including transaction processing, new accounts, customer servicing and general banking questions.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year of customer service and/or cash handling experience.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong desire to provide quality customer service.
- Attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a multi-task, high volume environment.
- One to three years with a financial institution to include teller and customer service experience.
- Ability to learn and operate technical systems and programs quickly.
- Ability to use MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Windows, MS-Outlook and the internet effectively.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree; 3 years of experience in a Financial Institution or Treasury related field. Background in bank operation policies and procedures and adequate knowledge of banking state and federal regulations.
Specific Job Functions:
- Performs opening / closing new accounts, renewing CD’s, account maintenance, stop payments, Notary services. Review and verification of input / maintenance on new or existing accounts.
- Performs maintenance and service duties for customers: courteously greet customers/prospects with in the bank lobby; drive thru or on the phone.
- Assists with ordering / printing new debit cards, monthly debit card renewals and balancing of debit card machine.
- Assist customer/prospect by analyzing and determining customer needs and recommending or offering appropriate solutions.
- Assist with vault operations including ordering currency, shipping currency and balancing vaults daily.
- Handles customer problems and complaints; counsel customers with special needs or requests.
- Participates in activities for generating new business such as sales calls, special events and cross-selling of bank products.
- Processes deposits, transfers, withdrawals and other transactions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assists with overrides and monthly teller audits as needed.
- Maintains working knowledge of the complete line of products and services offered.
- Maintains knowledge of bank organizational structure, branch policies and procedures.
- Opens and closes the branch; maintains and stays abreast of security policies.
- Contributes and attends all meetings to include: Retail Banking and Employee.
- Other duties as assigned.

- The employee is constantly (66%-100%) required to sit, type or write, utilize finger dexterity, see detail and close vision, see beyond arm’s length and speak clearly in order to communicate effectively.
- The employee is frequently (33%-66%) required to stand, walk, bend, stoop or squat, lift up to 20 pounds, and hear clearly in order to communicate effectively.
- The employee is occasionally (1%-33%) required to push or pull, reach above shoulders, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in confined spaces.
