Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) seeks one Secretary (CLU JP# 004-2025) for its Clute Branch Office.
LSLA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit law firm and its mission is to protect and advance the civil rights of low-income Texans by providing advocacy, legal representation, and community education that ensure equal access to justice.
Summary Of Responsibilities
This worker candidate carries out general office and secretarial duties in the assigned unit; answers the department/unit telephone, types correspondence and maintains unit or office files; assures the privacy of clients; exhibits a high degree of professional standards; and is certified with LSLA current case management system. The principle duties of this position are to: answer the telephone; take accurate messages and or routes callers; greet unit or office visitors, clients, and applicants; schedule client appointments and gives information to callers; interviews applicants and clients; screens applicants for eligibility by telephone and in person; distribute mail and fax transmissions, photocopies documents; performs case related clerical tasks necessary for the opening and closing of case files; if bilingual, to interpret and or to translate as needed; and responsible for performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Skills And Experience
This position requires a candidate to type at least 40 words per minute. It also requires strong client service orientation and ability to work under pressure as well as good file processing and communication skills; proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and mathematics; good interviewing, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
