We value our employees and are seeking an experienced full-time Insurance Verifications Coordinator for our busy practice.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works quickly and efficiently to ensure all benefits are verified for surgical patients and communicate the cost to the patients prior to the surgery being scheduled.
- Utilizes online tools and calls insurance companies to verify benefits and check authorization requirements for all scheduled surgeries.
- Initiates referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
- Possesses and demonstrates strong technology/computer knowledge and skills to access information from different payer websites and internal computer processes.
- Appropriately documents in EMR to actions taken and insurance verification and authorizations.
- Communicates insurance benefits information to the patient, informing her of patient responsibilities and discussing financial arrangements available.
- Document all patient conversations appropriately into EMR.
- Promotes a positive work environment in action and conversation.
- Works closely with surgery schedulers to ensure patients are receiving the care they need and surgery blocks are filled.
- Communicating efficiently with the patient, surgery team and physician to ensure the surgeries are scheduled and completed without issue.
- Assist Medical Assistants with insurance verifications and pre-certifications for their scheduled surgeries when help is needed.
- Advise supervisor of any pending issues or possible issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Accredited high school graduate or GED equivalent
- Insurance verification and/or billing experience
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle high volume of patients
Preferred Qualification:
- Minimum of one year verification experience in a medical setting
- OB/GYN medical office experience
- Familiarity with local insurance plans and medical benefits
- Knowledge of OB/GYN medical terminology
- Bilingual/Spanish-speaking
