The Staff Accountant performs essential accounting functions and provides support in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and a foundational understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, ensure timely payments, and manage customer billing.
o Manage weekly A/R Aging reports and distribution to the sales team.
o Manage collection efforts for customer accounts.
o Research and rectify unreconciled A/R customer invoices/payments.
o Assist with new customer account onboarding and setup.
• Account Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• General Ledger Management: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate posting of all transactions.
• Expense Management: Monitor and control expenses, ensuring they are within company guidelines.
• Month-End Closing: Help with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other departments to gather financial data and support their financial needs.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
• Attention to detail and ability to work with large data sets.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 10-key proficient.
• Experience with financial forecasting and budgeting.
