Staff to student ratio is small, allowing for more individualized attention each day.

The Lone Tree Community School District is located along the Hwy 218 corridor with access to Iowa City in approximately 15 minutes. Lone Tree has a small-town feel with ready access to the amenities of Iowa City, Kirkwood Community College, and the University of Iowa. Lone Tree Community School District is proud to serves over 400 students.

Job Title: CUSTODIAN

Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma, certification of good health signed by a license physician, ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports, and demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned.

General: Sufficiant physical strength and agility to work continuous hours on feet; to lift and carry moderately heavy supplies, equipment and furniture (approximately 50 pounds); to use a ladder up to 10 feet in height; to remove snow and ice from walks; to maintain grounds and planting areas, and to do all phases of custodial work generally assigned to custodians in the school district.

Reports to: Building Principal and Superintendent. Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Director.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the general cleaning and maintenance of the school buildings including but not limited to; floors, whiteboards, smartboard, wastebaskets, locker rooms, and restrooms.
  2. Assists with general mechanics of remodeling and renovation work as needed.
  3. Assists in snow removal and upkeep of grounds, as necessary.
  4. Requisitions and receives supplies and equipment and maintains necessary inventories as needed. Communicates with Maintenance Director, Building Principal, or Superintendent if inventories/supplies run low.
  5. Reports any security problems to the Maintenance Director, Building Principal, and Superintendent as needed.
  6. Assumes responsibility for the general fire, life, and safety of the building.
  7. Assists staff as requested as approved by Building Principal and/or Superintendent.
  8. Assumes responsibility for assigned projects concerning OSHA, Fire Marshal regulations, and Asbestos Management Regulations as designated by the Maintenance Director, Principal, or Superintendent.
  9. Communicates to the Maintenance Director and/or Building Principal of daily schedule of tasks. Can communicate with Superintendent if Maintenance Director and Principal are not in the building for the day.
  10. Reports any problems or concerns with students, employees, or members of the public to the Maintenance Director and/or Building Principal and/or Superintendent.
  11. Maintains professionalism in respects to language, dress, and interactions with staff and students. Must maintain professional interactions with staff and superiors while maintaining appropriate professional distance with students.
  12. Assists in cleaning or situations that arise during their shift not listed above.
