Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software to support various payroll-related functions.
Duties
- Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and ensure proper documentation
- Conduct double entry bookkeeping to maintain accurate financial records
- Perform account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
- Assist in financial analysis and forecasting related to payroll expenses
- Prepare regulatory reporting as required by government agencies
- Collaborate with HR to ensure employee data is current and accurate for payroll processing
- HR compliance items as needed
- Support HR Manager with Open Enrollment and Onboarding
- 401(k) accounting and administration
- Assist with all payroll inquiries and payroll issues with employees
- Support payroll conversion to Paylocity
- Support cash flow analysis by providing timely payroll information
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information and adhere to data protection regulations
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role in accounting or finance
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including technical accounting practices
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform financial analysis and account reconciliation
- Paylocity experience strongly preferred

Pay: $30.00 to $35.00 hourly
