Title: Activities Coordinator
Reports to: Events and Activities Director
Lonesome Valley is a singular, residential mountain farm community celebrating simplicity, family, nature, and over 120 years of one family’s thoughtful stewardship. Amenities feature extensive hiking trails, fly fishing in streams and ponds, lake activities, a fitness facility with a heated outdoor pool, racquet sports complex, Canyon Kitchen restaurant, and Canyon Spa. Lonesome Valley is located just outside Cashiers, NC.
Job Summary:
The Activities Coordinator will work closely with the Events & Activities Director and other departments to plan, coordinate, and host a variety of recreational and educational activities for all Lonesome Valley residents, including children & youth activities, holiday parties, bingo & trivia nights, outdoor tournaments, and more!
The Activities Coordinator is also responsible for the inspection, organization, and general upkeep of all recreational & activity supplies and areas. The position is seasonal with a typical schedule of Wednesday – Saturday 8 am – 5 pm plus some evenings (schedule will vary based on event/activity schedule). Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends are required.
Education/Certifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum age of 17.
- Experience in working with children is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of safety and first aid practices (CPR and First Aid certified preferred but not required).
- Desire to work with children in a nature-focused and outdoor environment.
- Must be energetic, creative, responsible, and dependable and have an enthusiasm for creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Foster positive relationships with residents and their families.
- Maintaining a fun, pleasant disposition even under stressful situations.
- Leading youth programs including organized games, sports activities, arts and crafts, teen nights, and other planned activities.
- Organization and upkeep of all recreational and activity supplies and areas including Activity Outpost, Long Lake Boathouse, Farmhouse Playground area, Disc Golf Course, etc.
- Set-up, facilitation, and breakdown of recreational, social, and sporting activities & events.
- Participate in special programs and events such as tournaments, holiday parties, etc.
- Provide administrative and management support as necessary.
- Answers questions and responds accordingly to resident & guest requests.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including lakes, streams, and hiking trails.
- Ability to safely perform all essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other local and federal standards in a wide variety of outdoor & indoor locations.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly in person and over the phone.
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
- Ability to push, pull and lift up to 25lbs.
