Field Safety Technician
Must be at least 21 years of age
Qualifications:
· Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable by carrier
· Must be able to pass a PFT, a medical evaluation and a fit test annually
· Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing
· Must understand and be compliant with all LSUSA policies
· Must be able to perform the following duties satisfactorily
Job Duties:
· Inspect and calibrate various brands of safety instruments
· Clean, inspect and repair respirators/SCBA equipment
· Maintain air supply trailers
· Evaluate the proper use of PPE
· Conduct inspections of training cards for expiration and validity on site
· Oversee field activities and monitor for safety violations (OSHA Standards and Best Practices)
· Maintain inventory on safety supplies/equipment
· Confined space supervision and write permits
· Identify potential causes of accidents and recommend changes in site processes
· Perform non-entry rescue for open areas and confined spaces
· Conduct and write hot work permits
· Perform site safety duties and responsibilities
· Perform proper fire watch duties
· Perform proper bottle watch duties
· Have or gain knowledge of drilling and flow back safety
· Be able to setup and operate a cascade system with air-packs
· Able to diagnose and calibrate gas detection monitors under supervision
· Able to rig up a rig package with help
· Able to setup and operate a cascade system unassisted
Other requirements:
· High school or equivalent
· Ability to read and write legibly
· Communicate one on one or in a group
· Ability to deal with common problems encountered
· Able to deal with a varying schedule, including immediate changes and holiday changes
· Be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as determined by the job needs
· Be able to work in a toxic environment, wearing protective equipment (i.e. respirators)
· Be able to work in both hot and cold environments
· Be able to walk and work in an airpack
· Be able to climb steps, ladders and stairs
· Be able to lift 50 pound loads
