ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Vice President, Academic Affairs, and in collaboration with the office of the Vice President / Workforce and Economic Development, the Dean, Applied Technology and Culinary Arts provides administrative supervision and oversight for Applied Technology and Culinary Arts (ATCA) instructional programs and continually researches the viability of new programs and their implementation.

Duties
DISTINGUISHING CHARATCARISTICS
The Dean will ensure appropriate involvement of school and college staff in the development of policies, procedures, and programs. This includes leadership, supervision, planning, implementation, and coordination in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, college committees, advisory committees, and the community. The goal is to align instructional goals and delivery systems with student learning outcomes, industry needs, and college objectives. Additionally, the Dean leads efforts in teaching excellence and student success, while overseeing the continuous improvement of ATCA programs. The Dean also manages projects in the School of Applied Technology and Culinary Arts, including collaboration with Workforce and Economic Development on initiatives and grants that support student success. As a member of the administrative team, the Dean will work effectively and sensitively with individuals at all levels of the college.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Vice President, Academic Affairs and evaluates assigned staff.
PERSONNEL
Responsible for effectively recommending the hire, transfer, suspension, lay-off, promotion, assignment, discipline, training, professional development, assignment, direction and evaluation of work, and adjustment of grievances of all assigned staff; administering collective bargaining agreements, employment and promotion selection procedures, and compliance with District policies, rules and regulations regarding personnel; evaluation of the performance of assigned staff, providing direction and assistance wherever a need for improvement is identified.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Possession of a master's degree; AND
One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment; AND
Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS :
LICENSE AND / OR CERTIFICATE :
A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy
