The Visual & Media Arts department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking highly-qualified, equity minded individuals to be our Radio, Television, and Streaming Equipment Technician! These incumbents will design, operate, maintain and repair a variety of broadcast radio, television, video and related equipment and studios for student and staff use. An incumbent is also responsible for providing instruction and assistance to students and staff with the set-up, use and operation of radio, television, streaming, and video equipment in studios and remote production locations. We are looking for someone who has experience in complex and responsible services to radio, television, podcasting, streaming, and video broadcasting equipment, editing software and systems to meet District operating and business requirements and maintain assigned systems and provide second- and third-level problem resolution and technical support services. Duties

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, designs, operates, maintains and repairs broadcast radio, music, television, video and streaming and related equipment and studios for educational use; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Radio, Television, and Streaming Equipment Technician is responsible for designing, operating, maintaining and repairing a variety of broadcast radio, television, video and related equipment and studios for student and staff use. An incumbent is also responsible for providing instruction and assistance to students and staff with the set-up, use and operation of radio, television, streaming, and video equipment in studios and remote production locations.

The Radio, Television, and Streaming Equipment Technician is distinguished from Recording Specialist in that an incumbent in the latter class is responsible for managing and maintaining the District's recording studio facilities and equipment.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION :

Education, Training and Experience :

An Associate's degree in video and radio engineering and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of radio and television production, broadcast equipment and streaming; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements : A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
