What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Secretary (part-time) position at Long Beach Island UM Churches?
Our church is searching for someone to fill the position of Office Manager at the Beach Haven Terrace Campus. This is a part-time position, 12-14 hours per week. This is ideal for someone with school-age children or for a retired person who enjoys a busy work environment with deadlines as well as interaction with congregation members.
This position is part-time, approximately 12-14 hours per week. The weekday schedule is flexible and will include 2 hours on Sunday morning.
Duties Include:
1.Oversee operations for a small church office.
2. Interfacing with church membership and general public on the phone, by email, and in person.
3. Preparing for weekly worship service(s), coordinating with the Pastor, Music Director, and others who are leading worship.
4. Keeping schedules of and planning events and services.
5. Typing and printing materials as needed.
6. Maintaining accurate church records and completing church forms and filings.
7. Maintaining accurate membership rosters in church database software.
8. Participate in monthly staff meetings and quarterly SPRC check-ins for ongoing resourcing and support.
9. In consultation with the Pastor or Staff-Parish Relations Committee, annually participate in a continuing education event of your choice for further development of professional skills. Continuing Education funding will be determined by the SPRC and will be part of the compensation package.
10. Must have a background check, with results on file in the church office, and will adhere to the LBI UM Church’s posted Safe Sanctuaries Policy.
12. Salary will be paid monthly, as determined annually by the SPRC and Church Board, with two weeks paid vacation included. Unpaid sick or personal days (2 maximum) may be granted, with the approval of the Pastor or the SPRC. The Office Manager will notify the church as soon as possible if he or she will need to take a sick or personal day.
13. Termination of employment: Two months’ notice required by either party (the Office Manager OR the church). Immediate termination can occur with just cause as determined by the church.
14. Other duties as determined by the Pastor or SPRC.
