EMT-B Job Requirements (Maryland)Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Hold a valid Maryland EMT-B certification or National Registry EMT (NREMT) certification with the ability to obtain Maryland reciprocity.
- Maintain current BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR certification from an approved provider (e.g., AHA, ARC).
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if driving an emergency vehicle is required).
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in basic emergency medical care, including CPR, airway management, bleeding control, and patient assessment.
- Knowledge of Maryland EMS protocols and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and medical personnel.
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress emergency situations.
- Basic computer skills for electronic patient care reporting (ePCR).
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 125 lbs independently and 250 lbs with assistance.
- Ability to perform prolonged physical activity, including kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Work in various environmental conditions, including extreme weather and hazardous situations.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) certification (if required to drive an ambulance).
- Prior EMS, fire department, or emergency response experience.

Additional Requirements:

Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with healthcare teams during transport.
