What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent position at Long Island Based General Contractor?
A Long Island based General Contractor is seeking an experienced, qualified Superintendent for Public and Private sectors for Commercial and Industrial projects located in NYC, Long Island, and surrounding areas.
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes. The Construction Superintendent shall schedule all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors, as well as ensure their completion of work within time allowed.
Requirements
- Preferably has NYC Licenses
- Experience in OSHA & Safety
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction experience
- Knowledge of construction trades and respective requirements
- Computer/smart phone literacy, Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Procore (preferred) , etc.
- Ability to read and interpret Floor plans specifications, and other documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively between customers,
employees, and management
- Ability to organize and utilize all paperwork required to manage the work such as Sign in logs, Submittals, and
RFI’s
General Responsibilities:
- Schedule Labor, Materials, subcontractors, deliveries, consultants, and vendors (with project team) to ensure timely
completion
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed. Verify all items being used
are approved for use and for the job
- Communicate with project team regarding contract drawings, RFI’s, and submittals
- Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work
- Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team and participate in the resolution
- Maintain daily logs of activities on the jobsite
- Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously
- Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team
- Ensure the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion
- Monitor safety compliance on jobsite
- Perform other duties as may be requested, including but not limited to conducting evaluations of trade performance,
completing project close-out reports, and overseeing completion of post-occupancy repair work
- The Superintendent on a job is the primary person responsible for all activity by trades, personnel on site, and for
the completion of the work per quality standards and per schedule. As such, the Superintendent is to always be
onsite when work is be conducted
- Review construction drawings to understand design intent, identify potential conflicts, and provide suggestions for
improvement where possible
- Perform quality inspections in accordance with program quality control documentation
