- In this role, you will perform various clinical laboratory tests under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures.
Job Description:
You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting test results, ensuring accuracy, and repeating tests as necessary especially those yielding abnormal or atypical results.
Performance Expectations:
- Apply basic knowledge of methods and clinical relevance of tests performed in your area of responsibility.
- Perform all preventive maintenance on schedule in accordance with laboratory procedure.
- Recognize abnormal instrument or test performance and do not release patient results until the situation is corrected.
- Perform basic troubleshooting procedures and seek assistance when necessary.
- Monitor reagent and supply inventory and inform supervisor of needs.
- Can perform phlebotomy when required with expertise.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related discipline.
- NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or Eligible Professional accreditation preferred.
- Strong analytical skills necessary to analyze data and perform mathematical calculations.
- Basic knowledge of computer fundamentals and experience with laboratory information systems.
- Technical skills necessary to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and perform routine and complex testing.
