Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Blood Bank - Full Time, Days - Clinical Labs-Blood Bank - 10:00 AM - 06:00 PM Monday - Friday with Alternating Weekends.
In this role, the successful candidate under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures performs various clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Laboratory Department in order to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Analyzes and interprets test results and ensures accuracy of same Repeat tests as necessary especially those yielding abnormal or atypical results and notifies appropriate personnel of such results.
Performance Expectations:
- Applies a basic level of knowledge of methods and clinical relevance of tests performed in their area of responsibility.
- Performs all preventive maintenance on schedule in accordance with laboratory procedure.
- Recognizes abnormal instrument or test performance and does not release patient results until the situation is corrected.
- Performs basic troubleshooting procedures and seeks assistance when necessary.
- Monitors reagent and supply inventory and informs supervisor of needs.
Quality Assurance
- Performs Quality Control according to Laboratory protocol.
- Documents Quality Control.
- Documents corrective action when needed.
- Follows laboratory procedure when Q.
Responsibilities
- Displays knowledge of mathematical and statistical calculations to evaluate Quality Control and calculate patient results.
- Reports to assigned area on time for scheduled shift.
- Adheres to hospital/department dress code.
- Completes all hospital requirements at designated time (i.e. annual assessments, educational, MedNetTra).
- Conforms to policies regarding confidentiality of information.
Requirements
To qualify you must have a BS in Medical Technology which includes a clinical internship or BS in a related discipline with one year supervised clinical laboratory experience. NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or Eligible Professional accreditation preferred.
