What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Summer Semester For Credit Externship/Education Program position at Long Island Ducks Baseball?
The Four-Time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks (Central Islip, NY), a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, are pleased to offer qualified college students a For-Credit Externship opportunity during their 2025 Summer Semester. This externship opportunity is for students who will receive credit towards their academic requirements as part of participating in this educational program. The externship is unpaid and externs are not entitled to employment with the Club at the conclusion.
Time Frame/Schedule: (Summer Semester) Students are expected to begin and end their externship in accordance to their school's summer semester dates.
Ideally, we are looking for students that require a full time externship experience as part of their educational program requirements (400 - 600 hours). They must receive college credit.

Program Description:
All applicants must include a detailed cover letter. Externs will receive exposure to multiple departments of the Long Island Ducks but the focus will likely be on 1-2 departments. All majors are welcome to apply, though particular consideration will be given to candidates whose course of study relates to our business, including Sports Management, Marketing/Sales, Communications, Operations and Public Relations. The Ducks value participants who are passionate, motivated, driven, innovative, forward thinking and committed.
Externs will receive exposure to all functional departments of a thriving, first-class professional baseball team. Students can anticipate exposure to many of the following departments:
Ballpark Operations/Maintenance:
Learn from the Ballpark Operations Manager and VP of Ops about daily operational set up, event management and upkeep of our 6,002 seat facility.
Promotions/Community Relations:
Learn from our Promotions manager about all aspects of pro sports marketing and community engagement, including children’s promotions, on-field activities, community events and engagement, street marketing, giveaways, etc.
Public Relations/Marketing:
Learn from our Promotions manager about all aspects of pro sports marketing and community engagement, including children’s promotions, on-field activities, community events and engagement, street marketing, giveaways, etc.
Public Relations/Marketing:
Learn from our PR and Social Media departments about creating content, video editing, graphic design, community appearances and more.
