Job Title: Public Safety Officer
Full/ Part Time: Full Time
Campus: LIU Post
Reports To: Director of Public Safety
Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
Protect life and property and able to respond to all types of emergencies on campus
Principal Responsibilities:
Performs routine public safety duties in accordance with established guidelines.
Patrol assigned areas to ensure personal, building and equipment security.
Warn violators of rule infractions
Enforce traffic and parking violations
Enforce all applicable campus rules and regulations plus NY State Penal Law when appropriate
Assist in emergency situations as needed
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; college preferred.
Training. Skills, Knowledge. Experience:
Prior law enforcement and/or security experience preferred
Must have good written, verbal communication and organizational skills
General computer knowledge is required
Valid NY State driver's license and good driving record required
Must have valid NY State security guard license and have completed both the 8 hour and 16 hour security guard training
Must have in possession updated CPR/AED and First Aid Training Working Conditions:
Must be able to demonstrate physical fitness
Able to stand for a long period of time;
Able to walk for long period of time;
Climb stairs and being exposed to outdoor weather conditions
Must be able to assist in lifting a person at least 150 pounds onto stretcher into ambulance.
Able to work shifts as needed.
