Position Summary :
As the Surgical Coordinator, you will play a vital role in acting as the liaison between patients, surgical facility, and primary care physicians to make the surgical experience as smooth as possible.
Job Duties & Essential Functions :
- Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries
- Schedule all patient surgeries, pre / post-operative appointments, including those with the patient’s primary care physician, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), and surgeon
- Arrange patient transportation if necessary
- Notify patient of all scheduled appointments
- Prepare surgery folders and collect all necessary paperwork prior to procedure
- Handle pre-operative testing as needed and directed by Physician
- Review and confirm medication list from patients
- Collect all pertinent information for upcoming procedure, such as bookings, lens orders, insurance, medical clearance, authorizations, signed consent forms, and transfers to surgical facility
- Answer all telephone inquiries from patients, their families, or primary care physicians concerning surgery and / or related concerns
- Contact patient after surgery to confirm medication schedule and answer any questions / concerns
- Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed
