What are the responsibilities and job description for the SVP - Counsel (Real Estate Attorney) position at Long Ridge Partners?
Our client is an established asset management firm in NYC invested in the Real Estate space. Working directly with the General Counsel, the SVP, Counsel, Attorney would contribute to and/or be responsible for the following areas:
Responsibilities:
- Assist with legal transactions and projects and work with all departments in the firm including origination, underwriting, servicing, accounting, IT, investor relations, capital markets, HR and marketing on various legal issues and general compliance.
- Assist with Capital formation and origination of debt deals.
- Support drafting real estate transaction documents including covenants on a variety of financings, acquisitions, M&A, co-investments, joint ventures, and dispositions
- Experience with repo/warehouse, mortgage loans, mezzanine financings, preferred equity, bridge loans, corporate debt and other credit facilities
- Own negotiations pertaining to loan documents with various borrowers, lenders, and other partners.
- Expand skill set beyond the traditional real estate financing space, including working with litigation and employment.
Requirements:
- 5 years (JD 2019 ) of professional experience in the real estate finance group in BigLaw, ideally with a mix of in-house and asset management/financial services firm.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of New York
- Experience in-house with commercial real estate financing transactions (mortgage, mezzanine, construction, etc.), the establishment of joint ventures, participation, and other co‐investment transactions would be nice to have.
- REITs and warehouse lines preferred
- Familiarity with real estate fund structures, REITS, and warehouse lines. Knowledge of formation and compliance of such structures.
- Admitted to Practice in the State of New York or eligible to waive in
Salary : $325,000 - $375,000
