Operations Manager
Location: Mobile, AL
Primary Responsibilities
Warehouse Oversight
Supervise all warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving functions.
Manage warehouse staff, including Warehouse Supervisors, to ensure efficiency.
Optimize storage strategies for maximum utilization of space.
Maintain and oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) for warehouse activities.
Ensure compliance with customer requirements for packaging, labeling, logistics, and shipping deadlines.
Provide forklift training and certification for warehouse employees.
Make hiring and termination decisions for warehouse personnel.
Coordinate and oversee temporary staffing needs.
Schedule and manage maintenance for production equipment.
Facility Management
Oversee all facility maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks.
Maintain facility security, including coordination with third-party security providers.
Safety Leadership
Act as the designated Safety Officer for the facility.
Develop, implement, and oversee the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including training, PPE usage, and proper signage.
Additional Duties
Mentor and support team members, including supervisors.
Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.
Keep accurate records such as the Building Maintenance Log, Hazardous Materials Disposal Log, and Recyclable Materials Log.
Oversee maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and other essential equipment.
Assist Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams in resolving product quality issues and refining processes.
Provide support for executive and general management as needed.
Serve as a backup for Warehouse Supervisors, stepping in when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse and/or production management.
Certifications & Licenses
Valid driver’s license.
Forklift certification (must be obtained before starting the role).
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in handling material equipment, warehouse racking systems, production machinery, and forklifts.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot industrial equipment.
Excellent organizational, supervisory, and computer skills.
Experience with inventory management software, ERP systems (such as Macola or SAP One), and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to design and optimize warehouse layouts for efficient inventory management, stock rotation, and damage prevention.
Strong leadership capabilities to manage an assembly operation with up to 50 employees.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, and use hands for handling tools or controls.
Must be able to communicate effectively and have strong visual acuity, including peripheral and depth perception.
Ability to remain in a standing or seated position for up to 8 hours.
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs with assistance as needed.
