Overview
Small family-owned business is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller/Assistant Office Administrator to join our team with the opportunity to advance in the future. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires strong analytical skills, technical accounting knowledge, and proficiency in financial software to assist in managing the company's financial reporting and accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily office operations
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs, reduce risks, manage and control cash flow.
- Monitor Accounts Receivables and Payables
- Oversee general ledger accounting and ensure accuracy in account analysis and reconciliation.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls.
- Conduct technical accounting research to address complex accounting issues as they arise.
- Utilize financial software, including QuickBooks and Excel for accurate record keeping and reporting.
- Manage, coordinate and/or administer, as appropriate, financial reports. Consult with outside accountants for preparation of tax returns and the production of other reports as required by law.
- Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Administer, evaluate and recommend changes, as appropriate, to the benefits offered by the firm, including health insurance, voluntary insurance and retirement benefits.
- Administer, evaluate and recommend changes, as appropriate, to the daily operations of the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience in regulatory reporting, general ledger accounting, and account analysis.
- Strong understanding of compliance and internal control frameworks.
- Proficiency in financial software applications; experience with QuickBooks, Office 365, Excel, Word.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records.
Salary is dependent upon experience.

Pay: $22.00 - $36.32 per hour
Expected hours: 40.00 per week
