What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Long Veterinary Clinic?
Long Veterinary Clinic is a mixed animal practice located in Kearney, Missouri. Long Veterinary Clinic is an independently and locally owned private practice established in 1974. We have and continue to strive to provide the best medicine and surgery possible in a family friendly environment.
We have a full time Veterinary Technician position available. We are looking for someone excited to join our team! Someone enthusiastic, up-beat, empathetic toward animals, and compassionate with people!
A love for animals, an ability to communicate well, and a team player are a must! Our support staff is the machine behind the clinic and are responsible for keeping it organized, efficient and safe.
This position is full time.
Duties include:
- Patient care
- Assist veterinarian in surgery
- Perform dental cleanings
- Perform fecal exams, bloodwork, and other laboratory testing
- Assist veterinarian in exam rooms
- Assist other technicians with clinical duties (nail trims, anal gland expression, suture removals, blood draws, IV catheter placement/management, hospitalized patient care)
- Educating clients
- Help in maintaining a clean and efficient working clinic environment
- Applicants must demonstrate empathy with animals and compassion towards owners.
Other requirements include:
- 3-4 years experience in a veterinary clinic as an assistant or technician preferred
Current and active technician license is preferred
- Equine and cattle experience is a plus but not required
- Working knowledge of Avimark computer program is a plus.
