POSITION DESCRIPTION
The main duties include, but are not limited to :
- Provides direct, routine Environmental Compliance (EC) support for UCOR’s ORNL Nuclear Operations and Y-12 Surveillance and Maintenance (S&M). This includes being the EC representative in manager and work package planning meetings and participating in walkdowns of facilities.
- Provides day-to-day EC support to UCOR’s wastewater treatment and stack operations, waste management, and S&M, ensuring compliance with environmental policies, requirements, and procedures.
- Supports ORNL and Y-12 water quality programs and field implementation group that are part of the Water Resources Restoration Program (WRRP).
- Conducts surveillance, management assessments, and compliance inspections, as assigned.
- Supports regulatory agency and DOE interactions (e.g., negotiations, inspections, technical assistance).
- Supports preparation and implementation of environmental permits, including the ORNL Title V air permit, pump and haul permit, and NPDES discharge permit for the onsite wastewater treatment facility.
- Provides EC support to ORNL related to CERCLA decision documents, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and UCOR’s Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan.
- Serves as custodian for several hazardous material chemical storage areas at ORNL, completing regular inventories.
- Reviews all ORNL excavation permits for land use controls.
- Accesses the database for laboratory results each month to track and report mercury and other data to operations and planning personnel.
- Serves as a technical and policy advisor to management and provides guidance on matters relating to environmental remediation, and storage and transportation of waste.
- Helps establish annual environmental objectives and targets for Nuclear Operations and tracks status.
- Maintains the Y-12 Facility Inspection and Training Manual for the Y-12 S&M CERCLA facilities inspection program.
- Completes work assignments with a high level of personal accountability, teamwork, initiative, and quality.
- Follows established policies, methods, and practices of the Company.
- Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner, and, if supervising others, has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised.
- Attends EC planning and team meetings, and performs other EC related tasks, as assigned.

coordinates projects and operations, environmental regulatory interactions, and assists with setting overall environmental
strategies, policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures projects and operations achieve environmental compliance and
stewardship
