Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support during orthodontic procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of orthodontic practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. An ideal candidate will be able to work at our second office in Jacksonville as needed and have conversational Spanish-speaking skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Remove and replace arch wires, fit and seat bands, fit and seat appliances, etc.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring it is clean and organized.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment; sterilize instruments.
- Take X-rays, photos and scans as needed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Manage patient records using Ortho2 Edge or similar software.
- Collaborate with the dental team to provide high-quality patient care.
Skills
- Efficient, follows directions, friendly and positive, confident, team player, problem solver
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and their application in a dental setting.
- Familiarity with anatomy relevant to orthodontics and general dentistry.
- Experience working in a dental clinic environment or other health care facility.
- Understanding of prosthodontics principles is advantageous.
- Proficiency in using Ortho2 Edge software or something similar.
- Strong background in dental assisting practices, including patient management and chairside assistance.
- Experience with X-ray procedures and safety measures.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 39 – 41 per week
