Longview Early Graduation High School Primary Purpose :

Responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum focused on game design and development to students as part of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grant project. Provide instruction, guidance, and support to students in developing their skills and knowledge in the gaming industry. This includes teaching various aspects of gaming, such as game design, game development, game art, game testing, and competition strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for supervising the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) related to gaming, coordinating events, and facilitating student engagement in competitions and other gaming-related activities. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the career and technical education subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Direct and manage student internship program in assigned business area. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications :

Education / Certification :

Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or high school diploma / GED and equivalent wage-earning experience required for certification

Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned, or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)

Demonstrated competency in the career and technical education subject area assigned

Special Knowledge / Skills :

Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Ability to monitor and oversee student field experiences in career area assigned

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Strong knowledge of the gaming industry, including game design, game development, game art, game testing, eSports competition strategies, Unity, and C

Knowledge of relevant software, tools, and technologies used in the gaming industry.

Experience :

Student teaching, approved internship, or 3 years of wage-earning experience in area of certification, preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties :

Program Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement a CTE curriculum for game development and game design that aligns with Longview ISD guidelines and meets state standards and supports the district's MSAP program grant project.

2. Provide hands-on training and guidance to students in game design, game development, game art, game testing, and eSports competition strategies.

3. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in gaming, eSports, and game art design, and incorporate them into the curriculum as appropriate.

4. Collaborate with other CTE teachers, school staff, and external partners to create a comprehensive and integrated CTE program that prepares students for success in the gaming industry.

5. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.

6. Support the implementation of the MSAP grant on the assigned campus including, but not limited to, managing materials and disseminating information from the district magnet office.

Instructional Strategies

7. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.

8. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.

9. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.

10. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).

11. Work with other members of staff to monitor instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district, state and federal requirements.

12. Serve as a resource to campus leadership and instructional staff in order to implement the magnet them campus-wide.

13. Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.

Student Growth and Development

14. Provide mentorship and guidance to students interested in pursuing careers in the gaming industry, including college and career readiness support.

15. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

16. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal and / or the district magnet director.

17. Present a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

18. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

19. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

20. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

21. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

22. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

Communication

23. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Professional Growth and Development

24. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

25. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

26. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Other

27. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

28. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).

Environment : May work inside and outside; on slippery or uneven walking services; around machinery with moving parts; may be exposed to chemical hazards or biohazards; regular exposure to noise; frequent district-wide travel

Mental Demands : Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
