SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or post-graduate work in Elementary Education. Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate with endorsement in Elementary Education (K-8)
  • Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.
  • Recent successful experience working with educators in demonstrating and modeling effective instructional strategies and assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of needs of diverse learners and strategies for addressing these needs.
  • Understanding of appropriate local and state standards.
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff and district patrons.
  • Evidence/demonstration of use of technology to enhance student learning or willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with students, teachers, school administrators, support personnel, and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

  • Using data to modify instruction as appropriate.
  • Assessing student learning multiple times throughout a lesson.
  • Instructing students to self-assess and monitor their own progress.
  • Frequently asking student to reflect on their own learning.
  • Using a variety of formative assessments.

Communicates and Collaborates with parents and school community by

  • Initiating communication with parents beyond the mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Communicating important aspects of the instructional program to parents in order to engage them with their child's education.
  • Providing meaningful information to parents about individual students.

  • Contributing to the PLC/Data Team on a regular basis.
  • Consistently seeking ways to improve.
  • Demonstrating the ability to make decisions in the best interest of students.
  • Maintaining a positive relationship with his or her peers under all circumstances.
  • Consult with counselor/psychologist and designated staff to solve and plan interventions for children.
  • Coordinate and train paraeducators as necessary in literacy curriculum.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • May be required to travel between buildings and occasionally attend workshops and conferences with the region or state.
  • Required to work flexible hours and schedule which may include some evenings. Expected to prepare classroom for the start of school and prepare workspace or room for summer cleaning after the last day of school.
  • Classroom/office environment which includes frequently walking, occasional lifting, and bending, stooping, kneeling and keyboarding.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Contract Term: 180 days; 3 professional development; 19 mandatory hours

Salary: Salary: Based on the 2025-2026 Longview Education Association compensation schedule. Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and other board approved benefits.
