Job Requirements
- Must have a valid Washington State driver's license.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience driving a regular vehicle or 1 years' experience driving a commercial vehicle.
- Must have a valid first aid card and CPR endorsement.
- Must satisfactorily complete the Washington State school bus driver's training course. (This course includes classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training and is offered by the school district.)
- Must obtain a valid Washington State school bus driver's certificate upon completion of school bus driver's training course. Training courses are held in the summer and in November/December of each year.
- Must have a physical examination certifying the physical capability of doing the assigned job.
- Such additional health and other requirements as the state and Longview School District may require.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Observe all safety regulations for school buses.
- Must like children and relate effectively to them.
- Able to be flexible and patient in trying situations.
- Hold the children and their safety as the highest priority.
- Maintain discipline while students are on bus.
- Report all students with behavior problems to the proper authority.
- Keep to assigned schedule.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects and report failure to proper person.
- Discharge students only at authorized stops.
- Report all accidents and complete required reports.
- Maintain a record of punctuality, dependability, and consistent attendance.
