Longwood Gardens seeks a Director of Individual Giving to join our Philanthropy team. Responsibilities include:
- Develop and oversee strategic fundraising initiatives for all unrestricted giving under $25,000, including donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, as well as stewardship events, benefit fulfillment, and travel initiatives
- Oversee the Innovators Program, including donor engagement, stewardship events, benefit fulfillment, and travel initiatives, ensuring sustained growth and scalability
- Develop the continued strategic expansion of the Innovators Program, including lanes for National Innovators and Corporate Innovators, ensuring sustained growth and scalability
- Collaborate with marketing and communications on fundraising campaigns and donor outreach
- Partner with the Director of Major & Planned Gifts to integrate strategies for overlapping donor segments and programs
- Personally manage a small portfolio of major gift prospect/donor households, assuming responsibility for their engagement and solicitation strategies
- Supervise donor services and data management, ensuring high-level accuracy, security, and efficiency in gift processing, pledge management, reporting, and database integrity
- Work cross-functionally with finance, events, and guest services to enhance donor experience and optimize engagement
- Lead and implement data-driven fundraising strategies for acquisition, renewal, and upgrades
- Coordinate and integrate strategies regarding prospects with other department plans, including the solicitation of planned, blended, and/or major gifts, as appropriate
- Oversee the memorial giving program
- Manage gift processing, pledge tracking, and donor acknowledgments with high accuracy and timeliness
- Oversee the creation of reports, dashboards, and donor segmentation strategies to optimize fundraising efforts and report against KPI’s
- Collaborate with finance to maintain accurate donor records and receivables
- Support donor recognition efforts and coordinate special accommodations for events, ticketing, and dining experiences
We are looking for an individual with excellent strategic relationship management skills with a proven track record of exercising good judgement in a variety of situations, and possess expert written and verbal communication, record keeping, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in progressively senior fundraising roles
- CAP and/or CFRE Certification is preferred
- Ability to approach work with an entrepreneurial mindset, a positive attitude
- Proven ability to host polished and aesthetically-pleasing events
- High degree of professionalism, customer service, and hospitality skills
- Ability to work with various and diverse groups, including Trustees, donors, and executive leadership
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize when faced with competing deadlines
- Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality, and understanding nuances particular to UHNW families
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekends, and travel, is required
- Experience in Raiser’s Edge database is preferred
- Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Experience developing custom reports and dashboards strongly preferred
- High level of integrity and adherence to the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Code of Ethical Standards

Salary : $25,000
