Longwood Gardens seeks a skilled and experienced part-time Event Production Lead specializing in sound engineering to join our team. As a key member of our event production crew, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality audio experiences at various events, ranging from corporate gatherings to receptions and internal events. Responsibilities include:
- Setting up, operating, and dismantling sound equipment including microphones, speakers, amplifiers, mixing boards, and related peripherals for events
- Performing sound checks before events to ensure proper audio levels, clarity, and overall quality
- Working closely with event organizers, performers, and other production staff to understand audio requirements and preferences and provide support during onsite client tours as needed
- Monitoring sound during events making real-time adjustments as necessary, and troubleshooting technical issues related to sound equipment and systems
- Collaborating with lighting technicians, stage managers, and other production team members to coordinate audiovisual elements seamlessly
- Maintaining and inventorying sound equipment
- Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in sound engineering, implementing innovative techniques to enhance audio experiences
The schedule varies and requires working a minimum average of 20 hours per week including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree or certification in a related field (e.g., audio engineering, media production) is preferred
- 3 – 5 years of previous experience in event production, with a focus on audiovisual support
- Previous experience in event coordination, hospitality, or a related field is desirable
- Strong understanding of acoustics, audio signal flow, and sound reinforcement principles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and vendors
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
