What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATE position at Longwood Gardens?

The Transportation Associate is responsible for serving and protecting our staff, guests, visitors, and the property of Longwood Gardens to ensure an extraordinary guest experience through the safe operation of shuttle buses both on and off the Gardens. Responsibilities include:
- Driving shuttle buses to transport guests from satellite parking lots to the Gardens or other designated areas
- Driving shuttle buses to provide tours or other transportation to visitors, guests, and staff to both on and off the Gardens
- Transporting guests, VIPs, staff, volunteers, and packages as directed
- Responding to and assisting with medical emergencies
- Maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the shuttles
- Working crosswalk posts and assisting with traffic control
- Interacting with guests in a positive and friendly manner providing wayfinding
The schedule varies and requires working an average of 20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Commercial driver’s license with a Passenger Endorsement is required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role is preferred
- First aid, CPR, AED experience(s) is preferred but not required
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions with long periods of walking and standing
- Strong writing skills to properly complete and document incident reports / investigations
- Ability to operate Longwood-owned vehicles
- Exceptional customer service, communication, conflict resolution, and hospitality skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
