Job Description:
Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the part-time positions of Seasonal Maintenance Helper / Trades Technician I (T0181, T0193, T0195, T0197). The successful candidate will be responsible for performing several tasks, including, but not limited to, painting, plumbing, replacing sheetrock, etc.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform various painting tasks
- Install and repair door closures and handrails
- Replace sheetrock and building wall structures
- Repair and replace lights, switches, and receptacles
- Clean drains, install pipes, and replace and repair plumbing fixtures
- Clean vehicles as needed
- Gather and deliver job materials while assisting with job site preparation and clean-up
- Change batteries in smoke detectors, check emergency lighting, and escort contractors
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to climb all types of ladders, including step and extension ladders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact appropriately with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Additional Information:
This is a part-time, temporary wage, non-exempt position in a pay band 1. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
