Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for performing a range of accounting and clerical tasks related to the accounts payable function for the assigned housing authorities. This will include receiving, processing, and verifying invoices, tracking and managing supporting back up documents, and processing payments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Process check requests and expense reports on a regular basis.
· Accurately review, code, and process vendor invoices in a timely manner.
· Audit and process credit card bills.
· Address and respond to vendor inquiries.
· Review and reconcile invoice discrepancies.
· Maintain a large number of vendor accounts.
· Participate in month-end closing.
· Cross train with others in department to be available when needed.
· Processing Housing Assistance Payments to landlords and program participants.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
· Three (3) years of work experience in Accounts Payable, bookkeeping, and/or accounting.
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to prioritize and multitask.

Physical Requirements
The incumbent must have the ability to access all portions of their assigned site during normal operation and during active construction or modernization. Must be able to work while standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to push, pull, carry, lift, crouch, and climb. Exposure to all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold.
Special Requirements
1. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

6. A business acumen with a strategic ability
7. Working knowledge of MS office and program management software
8. Outstanding knowledge of data analysis, reporting and budgeting
9. Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation techniques
10. Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
