We are actively recruiting candidates to participate in our 2025 On-site Summer Internship program. This program is roughly 12 weeks in length and will immerse you into the culture and operations of Lonza Portsmouth. This opportunity is to join our R&D team at the Process Innovation Center. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a dynamic and cross-disciplinary team of scientists who focus on improving the manufacturing of biologic medicines through the utilization of process analytical technologies (PAT). In this role, you will work under the guidance of a project mentor to evaluate the use of Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to aid our understanding of protein purification processes.

Our Lonza Portsmouth site is a clinical-to-commercial, multi-product manufacturing facility located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, only 56 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts. The site, which employs over 1,500 employees, is a custom manufacturer of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins using mammalian cell culture.
We offer an onsite cafeteria, fitness center and other amenities. The city of Portsmouth is home to many restaurants, breweries, museums, and theaters. The ocean and mountains are nearby and we have major cities close by (Boston, Portland, Manchester).

Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with mentor to complete defined R&D intern project
- Generally support R&D projects through execution of routine lab activities based on established procedures
- Perform general lab support activities, including routine instrument standardizations, solution and reagent preparation, glassware cleaning and autoclaving
Required Education
- Completion of junior year (typically 90 credits) towards a B.S. degree in a Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering related degree program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of 4) required
- Must currently be enrolled in BS or MS Academic Program
- Must be available to begin the Internship on Tuesday, May 27, 2025
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Self-motivation and the ability to contribute as a team member
- Ability to organize, plan and execute projects
- Research skills and attention to detail
