Position: Lifeguard
Location: Lookout Mountain Club- 1201 Fleetwood Drive
Pay: starting at 14.00 per hour
Schedule: Flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays. Summer season will run May 2 - September.
Requirements:
Valid Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent)
CPR and First Aid Certification
Strong swimming skills and quick response time
Reliable, team-oriented, and customer-friendly
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the swimming and recreational activities in the swimming pool, baby pool, splash pad and surrounding areas to ensure safe and responsible behavior of our members and their guests while using these facilities.
- Regulates the conduct of pool patrons; enforce pool policies, rules, and regulations; and, if necessary, rescues patrons and performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid.
- Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
- Tests the water quality in pools and maintains appropriate records.
- Assists in the proper maintenance and sanitary upkeep of the pools, pool area, and restrooms.
- Assists with maintaining any daily records, incident logs and proper record-keeping with the maintenance and supervision of the swimming pool, including written reports on all accidents.
- Keeps updated on proper and current safety requirements and procedures related to the job responsibilities.
- Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures.
- Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.
- Provides guidance to less experienced lifeguards during shift.
- Assists Pool Operations Manager in daily duties, including maintaining proper chemical balances in both pools and splash pad, as directed, and adjusts these balances as directed.
- As necessary, assists on resolving any mechanical/pump room or chemical problems, as necessary.
- Performs other responsibilities, as necessary.
Essential Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Education
- Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
- American Red Cross Basic First Aid required, training on AED units and possession of a current Red Cross CPR card.
Experience
- Past lifeguard experience preferred.
