The Loomis Chaffee School seeks a Medical Director to oversee the clinical operations of the Gwendolyn Health Center (GHC), ensuring high-quality health care services for the Loomis Chaffee community. This role provides leadership, supervision, and strategic direction for GHC’s Advanced Practitioner(s) and staff, reporting directly to the school’s Dean of Community Life. The Medical Director aligns GHC’s objectives with the Loomis Chaffee School’s administration goals, fostering a safe, effective, and student-centered healthcare environment.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide feedback on clinical operations and functions within GHC to the Nurse Operations Manager.
- Lead patient care and clinical support functions, ensuring high standards of service.
- Oversee GHC’s operations and strategic growth in collaboration with the Nurse Operations Manager.
- Implement and refine GHC policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Optimize resource allocation for a cost-effective and productive healthcare environment.
- Supervise, develop, and evaluate clinical staff, ensuring alignment with GHC’s goals.
- Assess and improve GHC’s effectiveness, adapting strategies to meet the evolving needs of students and the school.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with campus leaders to support community health.
- Collaborate with the Director of Counseling and Director of Wellbeing to safeguard student health and wellness.
- Prioritize patient safety, supporting staff participation in safety initiatives and required education programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and facilitation skills.
- Expertise in change management and organizational effectiveness.
- Strong written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- M.D./D.O. board certification in a primary care specialty (Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, etc.) preferred.
- APRN applicants are also accepted, with relevant credentials and leadership experience.
- Minimum three years of management experience in a medical center or integrated health system.
- At least three to five years of specialty and/or sub-specialty experience in a relevant field.
- Connecticut State Medical Licensure or eligibility required.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Expectations will be determined by the employer (e.g., campus residency or proximity requirements).
Physician/Provider Availability:
The Medical Director will be available for patient consultations, committee meetings, after-hours calls, and on a per-diem basis as needed. The practice schedule will be established in coordination with the employer, ensuring appropriate coverage for GHC.
