What are the responsibilities and job description for the DISPATCHER | FULL TIME SEASONAL position at Loon Mountain?
Overview :
The Mountain Operations Dispatch position works under the direction of the Patrol Director to coordinate phone and radio traffic for all Patrol Operations. Additionally, to coordinate phone and radio traffic as needed throughout the mountain operations. The Dispatcher is often the first point of contact for any emergency or non-emergency call to the Ski Patrol. Dispatchers are often required to manage multiple tasks at once and must possess the ability to remain calm in high-pressure or emergency situations. The Dispatch position does not require medical certifications or prior knowledge of the mountain, knowledge of the mountain.
Responsibilities :
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following :
FACILITATES EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION :
Receive reports of injured guests and relay information to Ski Patrollers
Assist in the coordination of transporting injured or distressed guests.
Uses phones and radios to transmit and receive operational or emergency information.
Handles and prioritizes multiple simultaneous communication demands.
Requests and communicates with local EMS and other outside agencies.
COMMUNICATES PROFESSIONALLY AND EFFECTIVLEY WITH GUESTS, COWORKERS, VENDORS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS :
Announce daily travel plan for Mountain Operations.
Announce ski lift openings, closures, and holds throughout the day via radio and telephone to Mountain Services, Marketing / Snow Reporters, and any other necessary personnel.
Use telephones and two-way radios to contact resort employees.
Assist in the coordination of opening ski terrain throughout the day.
Demonstrates empathy and compassion towards guests and team members alike while maintaining a calm demeanor in distressing situations.
MAINTAINS ACCURATE, DETAILS PAPERWORK PROCESSES AND INCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS :
Reviews daily paperwork for completeness
Organizes and files daily paperwork.
Coordinates reports for dispatch system.
DEVELOPS AND MAINTAINS A THRORUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE MOUNTAIN AND OTHER RESORT DEPARTMENTS :
Comprehensive knowledge of Loon Mountain Ski Patrol Practices and Procedures and Patrol resources.
Comprehensive knowledge of Loon Mountain Operations Practices and Procedures.
Knows the trail map and current trail status.
ASSIST THE PATROL DIRECTOR IN MANAGING PATROL INVENTORY.
Qualifications :
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :
At least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Excellent communication skills.
Kind and professional demeanor.
Exceptional guest service.
Ability to listen and speak clearly and effectively in distressing situations via two-way radio and telephone.
Ability to multi-task. Dispatchers are often coordinating multiple incidents at the same time.
Problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks based on new and changing information.
Typing and computer skills, in a variety of programs.
