About the Role
Our client, a well-funded and fast-growing AI startup, is seeking a Founding Backend Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Brooklyn, NY. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the CTO, engineering team, and customers to build and scale the core infrastructure of a cutting-edge AI platform.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, infrastructure engineering, and cloud technologies, with a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop backend and full-stack features for the platform using TypeScript, NextJS, React, and Python.
- Own and scale the core infrastructure, including Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Helm Charts, PostgreSQL, BrainTrust, vector databases, and CI/CD pipelines (Argo/Flux).
- Ensure seamless operation across cloud and cloud-prem environments, supporting enterprise and regulated infrastructures.
- Strengthen application security, vulnerability management, and container/cloud security.
- Build out Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) and Multi-Single Tenant (MST) capabilities for regulated enterprise environments.
- Improve platform stability, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate directly with customers and the go-to-market (GTM) team to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Continuously raise the bar for engineering excellence and innovation.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in backend development and infrastructure engineering.
- Expertise in TypeScript, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Argo/Flux.
- Strong understanding of application security, vulnerability management, and cloud/container security.
- Proven ability to work in regulated environments (e.g., federal or enterprise).
- A passion for solving complex technical challenges and delivering impactful solutions.
- A collaborative mindset and a desire to work closely with a small, high-performing team.
