Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Python / Defense)
đź“Ť Washington, D.C. (On-site / Relocation Supported)
đź”’ Active Secret Clearance Required
About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a deep Python data engineering background and a strong track record of deploying AI solutions in production, security-sensitive environments. You’ll be joining a mission-critical team working at the intersection of machine learning, national defense, and predictive analytics — solving real-world problems in supply chain, cyber monitoring, and system readiness.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on owning the full ML lifecycle — from model development and data pipelines to deployment and monitoring — and who’s excited to work in defense-forward AI applications with real operational impact.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and deploy ML solutions into production for defense-related applications.
- Build robust data pipelines and predictive systems using Python, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, and more.
- Work with schedulers like Airflow, Celery, or Prefect to orchestrate tasks across production-grade systems.
- Create dashboards or lightweight apps with Flask, Django, Streamlit, or Plotly Dash for operational use.
- Integrate and analyze data from sources like US Air Force System of Record, PCAP, CVE datasets, and others.
- Apply ML and optimization techniques to areas like Predictive Maintenance, Supply Chain Modeling, and Scheduling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in both civilian and classified spaces.
What We’re Looking For
- 4 years of Python-based data engineering and ML experience.
- Proven experience deploying models in production environments — not just research.
- 1 year of hands-on work with task schedulers (Airflow, Celery, etc.) and web frameworks (Flask, Django, or Streamlit).
- Familiarity with big data frameworks like Spark, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Proficiency with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.
- Strong experience in at least one of the following domains:
- Cyber Analytics (e.g., PCAP, CVEs, network monitoring)
- Logistics & Supply Chain Optimization
- Predictive Maintenance for large-scale systems
- Bachelor's or higher in CS or related technical field from a top-tier university.
- Excellent English communication skills — both written and verbal.
- High attention to detail, ownership mentality, and the ability to operate with autonomy in fast-paced environments.
Requirements
- Active U.S. Security Clearance (Secret or higher) is mandatory.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Washington, D.C.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in DoD or defense-related AI applications.
- TS or TS/SCI clearance.
- Familiarity with DoD data compliance and security protocols.
Why Join Us?
- Work on cutting-edge defense tech with real-world consequences.
- Be part of a tight-knit, mission-driven team.
- Enjoy opportunities for growth, clearance upgrades, and domain expansion.
Compensation:
- Competitive salary/equity/bonus based on experience
- Comprehensive benefits unlimited PTO
