Position: Lopatcong Township School District –Supervisor of Special Education
Start Date: Immediately or when position is filled
Mandatory
Qualifications: Valid New Jersey Supervisor, School Administrator or Principal Certificate
Ability to plan, organize, administer and assess a District-level comprehensive
special education program
Required criminal history check or proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien
status
Preferred
Qualifications: Experience in teaching primary and/or middle level students
Strong knowledge of best practices regarding Special Education including the
applicable codes and statutes
Familiarity with all special education processes and procedures prescribed by law
NJDOE Certification as LDT-C or School Psychologist highly preferred
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Works with the Superintendent Building Principals and teachers in developing the total school
program.
- Work collaboratively with Principals and other school leaders.
- Coordinate the activities of the SEPAG.
- Adhere tightly to required timelines for compliance.
- As directed by the Superintendent, work with the Board Attorney or Counsel on emerging special
- Provides leadership in the development of emerging in-house special education programs.
- Coordinate and Supervise all activities of the Child Study Team.
- Work with building principals to recruit, hire and develop paraprofessionals and their duties.
- Meet regularly with special education teachers and building principals regarding program
- Cooperates with the school counseling services director, principals and staff in planning the
instructional program and support services for special education pupils and other students with
special needs.
- Conducts classroom observations and provides supervision/evaluation of teachers and
- Keeps abreast of and interprets to the staff the current research in the area of curriculum

- Organize and supervise all transitional activities, high school and otherwise.
- Assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating district provided ESY programming.
- Assists in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that pertain to special
- Coordinates professional development to meet instructional needs, as assigned.
- Work with the Business Office to maintain good record keeping for external therapies and
- Works with teachers and administrators to identify students in need of intervention support and
- Serve as a functional member of the CST, certification dependent.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the special
- Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
- Implement the Student Code of Conduct through collaboration with the Building Principals.
- Works with Building Principals to assume responsibility for the management of the schools in
- Works with Building Principals to plan, organize and supervise all aspects of the Special
- Serve as the primary liaison between the district and the High School.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
