Description of Position: The District is seeking qualified applicants for a part time coordinator of the
Multilingual (ML) program serving qualified students in our K-12 schools. The successful candidate
will coordinate paraeducator schedules, determine student needs, develop appropriate service models
for classrooms, coach teachers on ML strategies, collaborate with ML Team to complete and submit
annual grants and year-end report, interpret and coordinate WIDA and other ML assessments, interpret
laws and regulations, and assure district compliance with State and Federal requirements and best
practices. Must have flexibility in scheduling.
Minimum Competencies Required:
- Washington State Teaching or ESA Certificate, with ELL endorsement.
- Demonstrated interest, commitment, and ability to develop challenging programs for ML students
at all levels.
- Knowledge and understanding of learning and teaching philosophy and the developmental needs
of students, especially ML students.
- Successful experience working with a wide range of ML student abilities, both academically and
socially, including at-risk students, students with special needs, and independent learners.
- Evidence of strong, positive management skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply Common Core Standards and Grade Level Expectations to the
ML program.
- Ability to use assessment to inform instruction, and share with teacher.
- Commitment to establishing effective, proactive and positive parent communication.
- Participate in district efforts toward continuous improvement.
- Understanding of the unique needs and opportunities presented by ML students and their families.
- Evidence of diversified and extensive personal ML training, background and practice, desired.
- Evidence of a commitment to collaborative leadership, required.
- Evidence of ability to evoke passion and rigor in ML students and staff in the content and subject
areas presented.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and administrators.
- Ability to work effectively and positively with parents, often with limited English.
Salary Level: Per LEA Collective Bargaining Agreement
